Colombian-born singer/songwriter Laura Lizcano is putting out her second release since relocating to Philadelphia from Bogotá, Colombia in her late teens. Since pursuing a degree in Jazz Performance, she has performed at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts for the Sittin In’ Series at Innovation Studio and at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in New York City as the featured vocalist for the Temple University Big Band. She has also opened for Gaby Moreno and Sammy Miller and the Congregation at World Cafe Live.
Following her self-released debut EP, Chance on Me (2018), she has since refined her sound from something with deep jazz roots to a more soulful, singer/songwriter feel. Her influences range from Norah Jones to Natalia LaFourcade, and both styles are evident within her own lyrically-driven compositions.
“True Love,” the first single off of her debut LP, Heart (May 2020), was recorded at Rittenhouse Soundworks with producer Michael Cumming (Sophie Coran, Trap Rabbit).
